Division One
A second half sensational touch from Jacques Francisco (aka Jack) was enough to led Newlife United to a 1-2 victory in a highly entertaining encounter with the home side Woodside Celtic. His late finish has propelled the visitors into a second place in the current division adding to his sensational scoring goals tally.
After a terrible start to the current season, Joe Howe’s’ side has finally begun to get their first season to the division back on track. With the recent approach to the team formation in their previous games, the coach approach to sticking with the 4:3:3 formations which have proven to couple the team back to its winning culture.
It is the last game for Newlife United before the Christmas and New Year break, so definitely a win at Coldharbour Leisure Centre can send a perfect Christmas package to their fans. The team kicked off with a rock solid defence line consisting of Harry, Joe, Luke, and Mecca.
In the absence of their inspiring young talented midfielder 'Ayo', the inclusion of mousa as a replacement for Ayo made the difference. Therefore the engine room consisted of sol, Chris and the magic playmaker Innocent distributing the ball immaculately to the wing players Mohammed and Mousa and finally, slicing the ball across to the striker Brown.
This time around the coach decided to keep his inform striker Jacques Francisco (aka Jack) on the bench as his wild card for technical reasons with the like of other remarkable players such as Perry, and Akin Cane.
Credits to the home side Woodside Celtic, currently the topping the points on the table. The referee's whistle screaming through, yes its kick-off, the game begun with zeal of fire, passes slashing through effectively well, boarding its flight to designated destination on the muddy pitch.
After some strings of communications and link ups between Innocent and his wing players, the play maker finally delivered a diagonal killer pass from the right locating the Mohammed (aka Mo fire) running across the line of the defence of the opponent. With two defenders trying to catch up the pacy winger, Mo managed to chest down the ball to his favourite foot, striking pass the legs of the goal keeper. There it goes into the net yeah it’s a GOAL!! 0-1.
However with new life's mentality, the boys exhaled "NIL NIL" game on, with about 30mins to half time. Newlife was happy to play deep in their half defending while they wait patiently for the next weakness of the opponent to exploit. That later gave the room for confident to the home side to attack.
Passes were made, crosses was defended and shots was taken at Newlife shots stopper Nick. Finally the home side had a break through from a one- two short pass from the midfield area to their attacker Dean Greensmith to cut out from mecca to drive a low shot that slips away from the keeper...ON LUCKY Nick!!! And that was the equalizer GOAL!!! 1-1.
After awful performances in the past, the boys knew either a draw or a lost was not an option. The game began to get so intense with voices screaming for cover and defence before the game was temporarily halted for a break. It’s half time.
The players were not happy with their performance; they knew what they have to do to take the game home. YES!!! Togetherness was the key. The encouragement followed.
The ref of the day Tunga blew the whistle to kick off with the second half. OOOOhhhh!!!! I can see the hunger Newlife United had to win this game. The midfielder stayed calm and focussed. Tackles flying in from the opponents fighting for their lives.
15 mins into the second half, and there comes the super sub, Mousa gave the space for the inform sticker Jack but this time the coach switched his play by deploying Wilson back to the right wing to add a flavour the his attack.
Few minutes to his introduction on the pitch, jack has started making some intelligent combination with Mo on the right before he tried to locate Wilson on the right that made a closed range effort wide. UNLUCKY BROWN.
Game on, the four back defence conveniently held their territory like a road closure, Nick had his hands on the ball by stopping any shot whatsoever on target from the opponents. A game with much domination, made me wonder if Newlife was playing for the finals. Woodside Celtics were gasping for initiative, still caught by surprise and trying to pick up their jaws from the floor, it’s another moment for a goal, towards the end of an intensive second half, with the game well controlled and new life in the driving sit, an amazing parabolic chip was safely delivered like a royal mail parcel from Innocent towards Jack and Wilson but Jack was quicker to react from the right side, combinations of paste finely displayed on the pitch like an High definition TV, He conveniently drove past with a side footed touch tenderly putting the ball in the net, It’s a Goal!! 1-2. what a perfect way to round off this game, within couple minutes, the referee came to the opponents rescue like paramedics, blowing the whistle, Game Over!!!.
Though the 1st half goal from Mo Fire wasn't enough to take home the victory, however the power of the super sub Jacques Francisco (aka Jack) was enough to clinch the remarkable win for Newlife United, keeping them second on the table for the rest of 2012. What a perfect position to start the New Year...
Well Boys.....Its Newlife United all the way
